MaryLee Melendez grew up playing sports. She played soccer and lacrosse and was a varsity athlete in high school.
MaryLee got her football fix when she attended Florida State University, but then decided to pursue her other passion, music. MaryLee transferred to Catholic University in Washington, DC to study musical theatre. While in DC MaryLee performed professionally at several regional theatres and sang the national anthem for The Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals.
But after being away from sports for several years MaryLee decided to return to her first love. MaryLee worked in Columbia, MD before getting her first job at a local station in Dothan, AL. MaryLee then moved up in markets, but stayed in Alabama when she started working in Huntsville.
