MaryLee Adams is the 5pm News Anchor and Sports Director at WDHN in Dothan, AL.
MaryLee hails from Columbia, MD where she was a Sports Reporter for Howard County TV. While there she focused on athlete profile pieces winning two AVA Awards for her segment “Dragon’s Lair Close Up”.
MaryLee’s background stems from the arts, studying theatre and music at Florida State and Catholic University in D.C. where she worked professionally as an actress on stage and on screen. She has also sung the national anthem for the Orioles and Nationals.
MaryLee has a passion for telling stories and being a part of a community and has loved politics from a very young age. Being a direct descendant of President’s John and John Quincy Adams, her grandfather used to tell her she would be the first woman president of the United States. Instead she chose journalism but has had the opportunity to cover an array of politics in Alabama ranging from the Governor Bentley Scandal to the U.S. Senate Special Election.
When it comes to sports MaryLee played varsity soccer and lacrosse in high school and is a huge football fan. Since coming to the Wiregrass she has covered a CFB National Championship, SEC Championship, Iron Bowl and the Chick-Fil-A Playoffs. Alabama, Auburn, Troy and local football are her top priorities but you may see her sporting her Baltimore Ravens jersey on Sundays.
