Nakell Williams spent the early years of her career  working in the business and going to school.  Nakell worked for CBS affiliate WBTW News 13 in Florence, South Carolina as an editor and newsroom assistant.  While at News 13, Nakell earned a B.A. in Mass Communications with a concentration in broadcast journalism from Francis Marion University. She also studied abroad at the Universidad Internacional in Cuernavaca, Mexico and earned an M.P.A. in Public Policy from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Nakell then got her on air start reporting and anchoring nightly newscasts for WEIU-TV News Watch in Charleston, Illinois.

Nakell then got out of the business and worked in government for a number of years.   But then she got the itch and decided to return to journalism.

Nakell returned to the business in central Maine where she worked as the bureau chief and state capitol reporter for WABI-TV 5.  Nakell then joined 8News in Richmond, VA in January 2016 as a reporter covering the Petersburg region.   Nakell then moved to Macon, Georgia to be a main weekday anchor.

In her spare time, Nakell volunteers and devotes her energy to organizations that combat domestic violence and advocate for the empowerment of women and their children. Her favorite things to do include enjoying the outdoors, running, traveling and spending time with her husband, son, family and close friends.

Nakell is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists. She is also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., an organization that has a global commitment to servant-leadership.
