Eric has his degree in Earth Science with a specialization in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.  He earned the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation.  Eric also has his Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association and was selected in 2011 to sit on the NWA seal evaluation board.

Eric began his career at WTVA-TV, the NBC affiliate in Tupelo, Miss., and then worked for KAKE-TV, the ABC affiliate in Wichita, KS.  Eric then moved to Columbus for a nearly twenty year stay.   He was the chief meteorologist at the Ohio News Network (ONN).  Eric led the weather team to numerous Ohio Associated Press awards including “Best Weather Operation” in Ohio in 2009, 2010 and 2011.  When ONN shut down Eric moved across the hall and began forecasting for WBNS.   He became a chief again when he joined WHIO in Dayton in 2015.

Eric’s hobbies include landscaping, watching college sports and playing with his two English Springer Spaniels.   Eric also enjoys storm chasing if he is not manning the weather center.  He started storm chasing in his teens but his real “adventures” began while working in Kansas covering storms in tornado alley.
