Sandra Yi Barker is the Public Affairs Specialist for the FBI Salt Lake City Field Office.   The role is a good fit for Sandra after a long career in broadcast journalism, covering mostly crime and courts.

Sandra was a veteran, Emmy Award-winning reporter for KSL-TV in Salt Lake City, where she covered many high-profile stories, including the Trolley Square shootings, the murder of Destiny Norton, the disappearance of Susan Powell and the kidnapping and return of Elizabeth Smart.  Sandra covered the four-week long trial of Smart’s kidnapper, Brian David Mitchell, and was interviewed for a 2010 Dateline NBC report about the case.  Sandra also served as a media witness for the firing squad execution of Ronnie Gardner in 2010, which garnered international attention.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Sandra holds an undergraduate degree from Columbia University in New York and a Master of Science from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.  Her broadcast news career also includes stints at TV stations in Green Bay, Wisconsin and Pocatello, Idaho.
