Josh Rultenberg is a multimedia journalist based in Columbus, who joined Spectrum News 1 as a statehouse reporter in June 2020 following stops in Alabama, Pennsylvania, upstate New York and New York’s Lower Hudson Valley.

Most recently, Josh was at WFMZ-TV in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley, where he was nominated for an NATAS Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award.  Prior to that, Josh was a morning news reporter in New York’s Lower Hudson Valley, at Verizon FiOS 1 News, which followed a stint as both a general assignment reporter and weekend sports anchor at WTEN, the ABC affiliate in Albany, N.Y.

Josh started his broadcasting career as the sports director at WDHN in Dothan, Ala., covering Alabama and Auburn football, among other things. He also gained news and radio experience in Dothan, helping WDHN and CNN cover the Midland City hostage situation, and worked on the radio for over a year on WTVY FM and WECB. He was part of the WDHN team that won an Alabama Broadcasters Association Best in Broadcasting Award for the station’s spot news coverage of the “Boy in the Bunker.”

Originally from Montgomery County, Pa., Josh is a proud graduate of Temple University where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. In his spare time, Josh enjoys playing tennis, working out, attending sporting events and watching movies.
